Quick And Easy Wood DetailBy Chris Mobley I am sure every one has had a kit that has included some wood that was done in plastic. I not only could never paint it to look like wood, but also never really liked the fake look. I then went to trying to find something to step the look up a notch and this is what I found to work rather well. Step 1 This is the stuff you will need. Some balsa wood, Q-tips, wood stain and a paper towel.
Step 2 Next take a Q-tip and dip in the stain. Color preference depends on what you are wanting to do. Personally I just used what ever I had laying around the house. After dipping it, remove the majority of it onto a paper towel, kind of like dry brushing.
Step 3 Once the Q-tip looks like it is almost dry, just wipe it across the wood.
Step 4 Next. Flip the Q-tip around and rub the surface with the dry end. This will remove some of the stain on the higher parts of the grain , giving it a sort of worn look like stuff has been drug across it. Won't be to drastic though, just enough to make it stand out.
Step 5 Then install the wood where you had planned it to be.
